Each roof Eco Tech fits carries a 10 year insurance backed warranty through HomePro, covering leaks through the panels and seals, defects in the panels and the quality of our fitting. The insurance backing means that if we ever ceased trading, an insurer would take over and honour the cover until the 10 years run out, at no cost to you.
Why insurance backing matters
A plain guarantee relies entirely on the firm that wrote it. Should that installer close, the promise disappears too, and any repair bill becomes yours.
Our warranty runs through HomePro, so an independent insurance policy sits behind our own promise. While Eco Tech is trading, you call us and we fix the problem. If we were ever to stop trading, the insurer would pick up the warranty for the remainder of the 10 years, which means your cover does not rely on our company still being around.
Money is never requested ahead of the survey, and the written quote states plainly when each payment falls due.
What is covered
Cover begins on the day we finish your roof, lasts 10 years, and applies to every part of the job that we were responsible for.
- Water getting in: leaks through a panel, through the joints between panels, around the seals of a roof light, or past the flashing along the house wall.
- Faults in the panels: problems with the panels themselves, for example a skin parting from the foam core, or the coating flaking or bubbling in ordinary use.
- Our fitting: anything we installed incorrectly, from trims and fixings to any spotlights, roof lights, gutters or fascia that came with the roof.
- Repairs carried out by us: any frame repair shown on your quote that our team completed.
When a fault is covered, we put it right free of charge, labour and replacement panels included.
What falls outside the cover
It is better you hear about these now than after a problem. None of them are hidden catches. Each is either something we pointed out before the work or something we cannot control.
- Frame problems noted at survey: if our surveyor records a fault in your dwarf walls, base or existing frame and you decide not to have it fixed, problems that stem from it are excluded.
- Accidental or storm damage: severe weather beyond the normal, falling branches, fire, ladders or people on the roof, or building work done later by another firm. These belong on your home insurance.
- Gutters left blocked: leaf-filled gutters can push water back into the roof. Keeping them clear is ordinary upkeep, explained further down.
- Alterations by others: anyone other than Eco Tech fitting an aerial or dish to the roof, or drilling through a panel.
Making a claim, step by step
- Let us know: phone or email us, or use the contact page, with your name, address and the date your roof went on.
- Send pictures: a few shots of the fault, taken indoors and outdoors, mean we arrive with the right parts.
- We come out: we arrange a visit for a time that works for you, track down the cause and tell you what happens next.
- We fix it: covered faults cost you nothing. If the cause is not covered, you hear that and get a price before any work begins.
Should Eco Tech have stopped trading, your claim goes straight to the insurer shown on your warranty certificate, giving the same details.
Do not hold off for dry weather if water is already getting in. Our guide on what to do when a conservatory roof is leaking has tips for protecting the room until we get there.
Looking after the roof and the warranty
Insulated panels need hardly any attention, but a few small tasks keep the roof in good order and the warranty in place.
- Empty the gutters twice a year or more, once in late autumn when the leaves are down and again in spring.
- When the panels or trims look dirty, give them a wash using a soft brush and warm water with a little washing up liquid. Avoid pressure washers, as they can drive water past the seals.
- Keep off the roof completely, and never rest a ladder on it. If a job needs doing up there, ring us.
- Check with us before drilling into or attaching anything to a panel.
- Report any problem as soon as you spot it, so a minor fault stays minor.
Keeping your paperwork safe
Once the roof is fitted you get your warranty certificate, so store it with the deeds and other house documents. A buyer's solicitor will want to see it if you sell, and our guide to selling a home with a new conservatory roof explains the reason. Our process page shows where the paperwork comes in, and the warranty is part of every figure on our roof panel prices page.
Questions people ask
How many years does the warranty last?
Ten, counted from the day we finish your roof. Leaks via the panels or seals are covered, along with panel faults and the standard of our fitting.
What if the installer closes down?
The warranty is insurance backed through HomePro, so an insurer takes it over for whatever remains of the 10 years. Your certificate names that insurer, and you would claim with them directly.
Do I pay extra for the warranty?
No. It comes with every roof we quote for, whatever its size or style. Our price guide lists everything else the price includes.
Is gutter cleaning really that important?
It is. Blocked gutters force water back up until it finds a way inside, and that is excluded from cover. Clearing them twice a year only takes a few minutes and protects your warranty.
