Our insulated panel roofs follow five steps: you tell us about the conservatory online or by phone, we carry out a free survey, you get a fixed price in writing, our fitters spend one to three days on site, and you receive your warranty and aftercare notes. Expect us on site 3 to 5 weeks from the survey. A small lean-to normally takes just one day.
Five stages in brief
- Tell us about it: give us the style, an approximate size and the current roof material, online or over the phone. Photos and your own measurements help us price it quickly.
- Free survey: one of our surveyors measures up, inspects the frame and glazing bars, and photographs everything.
- Fixed price in writing: a single figure, with each item and each extra set out.
- Installation: a single day for the majority of small roofs, two or three for bigger ones.
- Warranty and aftercare: HomePro 10 year insurance backed warranty papers plus easy upkeep tips.
Stage 1: telling us about your conservatory
The quickest start is our free quote form. It asks what style of conservatory you have, roughly how big it is and what covers the roof today, and that gives you a guide figure there and then. Prefer to chat? Give us a call and we will go through the same points with you.
Next, we phone or email to arrange the survey at a time to suit you, Saturdays included. We will never arrive without warning, and we will not pester you with calls.
Stage 2: the survey visit
Allow roughly an hour. There is no need to empty the room, though it helps if we can get to the wall where the roof meets the house and walk all the way round the outside.
Taking measurements
We record the size of each roof section, the pitch, every glazing bar length and the frame height. As every panel is cut to order, those figures feed directly into the factory order. Victorian and P-shaped roofs take a little longer, as they have more facets to measure.
Inspecting the structure
No part of the visit matters more. We examine the ridge, each glazing bar, the ring beam along the top of the window frames and the dwarf walls below. Most uPVC and aluminium frames carry our panels with no trouble, but a split bar or a wall that has shifted needs fixing beforehand. Read is my conservatory frame strong enough for a fuller look at what we check.
Pictures and choices
For the panel order we take pictures of the roof, the frame and where it joins the house. After that we talk through gutters, spotlights, roof lights and colour choices, and answer your questions. You are never asked to sign anything during the visit.
Stage 3: the written quote
Your quote comes in writing once the survey is done. Separate lines show the roof itself in the colour you picked, every extra you raised and any frame repair we spotted. Once you accept, the figure stays fixed unless you alter what you have ordered.
Eco Tech never takes a deposit ahead of the survey. Read the quote at your own pace, and compare it with our roof panel prices if you would like to see it against our published figures. Finance through Kanda can spread the cost, subject to status.
Stage 4: a typical fitting day
The timings below assume an Edwardian or small lean-to roof, which two of our fitters normally complete within the day. Ladders and staging are enough for most single storey roofs, so scaffold is rarely needed.
- 8am: our fitters arrive, look round with you and settle where the van goes, where waste is stacked and which door they will use.
- 8.30am: furniture is gathered in the centre of the room and covered, and the floor goes under dust sheets.
- 9am: we strip the old roof, bar caps first, then the polycarbonate sheets or sealed glass units, and stack them ready for recycling.
- 10.30am: with the frame bare, we check it once more, carry out any repairs listed on the quote, and clean and prepare the flashing line along the house wall.
- 11am to 3pm: panels are laid one section after another, and each is bedded in, fixed down and sealed. Any roof lights go in as the surrounding panels are placed.
- 3pm: trims go on, then the lead or wall flashing, plus new gutters and fascia where ordered.
- 4pm: we finish inside, fitting any spotlights, then clean and vacuum the room and put the furniture back.
- 4.30pm: you get a guided look at the new roof inside and outside, and we cover any final questions.
Staying in all day is not necessary, but please be there when we start and when we finish. When rain is due, we keep the roof covered between stages, and if conditions are too poor to work safely we ring the day before to rebook.
Jobs that run to two or three days
A medium roof takes one to two days, and a large or P-shaped roof two to three. On these longer jobs the old roof is removed a section at a time, so your conservatory is never open to the sky overnight. At the end of each day we seal the completed sections, and anything still open is sheeted over and weighted.
Stage 5: warranty and looking after the roof
Once the roof is on, your HomePro 10 year warranty paperwork follows, explaining the cover and how to claim. Upkeep is easy: twice a year, clear out the gutters, and give the panels a wash in warm, soapy water whenever they look dirty. Should anything look wrong, phone us and we will return.
How long you will wait
Every set of panels is made in the UK to the survey measurements, so a short gap between survey and fitting is unavoidable. Our team has more than 15 years in conservatory roofs, and we plan each job around that factory time.
| Type of roof | Days on site | Usual gap between survey and fit |
|---|---|---|
| Small lean-to or Edwardian | 1 day in most cases | Three to five weeks |
| Medium, including most Victorian roofs | 1 to 2 days | Three to five weeks |
| Large or P-shaped | 2 to 3 days | Three to five weeks |
Our diary fills fastest in spring and early summer, so arrange your survey in good time if you want the new roof finished before the heat arrives.
Questions people ask
Must I stay in on the day you fit the roof?
We ask you to be home at the start and the end of the day: first thing we agree the plan together, and at the finish we show you the roof. You are free to go out in between, provided we can get into the conservatory.
Will the rest of the house be usable during the work?
Yes. Our fitters work from the garden and inside the conservatory only, so everything else carries on as usual. We keep the door from the house to the conservatory shut while the old roof is off.
Is scaffolding needed?
For most single storey conservatories, no. Ladders and roof staging do the job, which saves money and means nothing is put up days in advance.
What if the weather turns wet?
A light shower will not stop us, because we cover the roof between each stage. If conditions make working unsafe, we phone the day before and rebook for your earliest free date.
How quickly can Eco Tech fit my roof?
Typically within 3 to 5 weeks of the survey, as every set of panels is cut to measure. Use our free quote form to arrange the survey.
